TheInternational Roma Cultural and Sports Association – Carmen e.V.was founded in Düsseldorf in 1991 by the second generation of Roma guest workers, making it one of the oldest Roma self-help organizations in Germany.

We are committed to increasing the public visibility of the Roma, expanding their social and political participation, and developing effective strategies to combat discrimination and antiziganism.

In addition, we promote the strengthening of identity, self-confidence, and self-esteem so that Roma can confidently assume and shape their roles as equal citizens and as cultural and economic contributors to our society.
